In apartheid South Africa, where intimate interracial relationships are illegal, a black man and a white woman share more than just their love, baring all in the face of oppression and uncertainty. Athol Fugard’s Statements is a remarkable love story that stands as a strident reminder of the intolerance and cruelty of a not-so-distant past. Contains nudity.

Rochester Opera house presents the Curse of the Gay Bride in Concert! (Same Show; Different Name)

The Show runs October 20th - October 31st.

Curse of the Gay Bride combines a rock show, theatre, and comic book art to create distinct and unique cartoon-ish musical theatre that you won’t soon forget!

The “past” sets the stage for the “present" as two girls form a beautiful connection that ends in tragedy.  High school friends Edna, Chloe, Hairy, and Thad stumble into a night of rock music that can raise the dead!  One fateful Halloween night leads to a very unconventional “Monsters Ball” that becomes the first night of the rest of their lives!

“The conceptual staging of the play incorporates a comic book background displayed on screen behind the actors. This brings about a unique dimension that helps tell the story and create impact at just the right times… The storyline can be intense at times. A lovely young girl is killed in the show. But the sadness of the death is replaced by a chance at a new life and a love that comes very unexpectedly. So there are underlying themes of love choices, life choices, and evil that play out but they are presented with just enough humor so that the show does not become dark.” — Karen Nowosad from Newark Theater Examiner.

“Rather than settle for only heavy winking and pure camp, the show treats its teen characters with respect and affection throughout the wild ride. Wanting the best of both worlds — reality and horror fantasy — Gay Bride has its crazy cake and eats it gluttonously.” — Rob Lester from TalkinBroadway.com

“Gay Bride hilariously sends up all the conventions of teen horror films, giving the protagonists free reign to explore their sexuality before it’s wrapped up in a frantic finale that means you’ll never think of Shaggy and the Wolfman in the same way again!” — Phil Willmott from Attitude.

Curse of the Gay Bride is a classic story of unrequited love with a great rock score, awesome animation, and a bitter twist that will have you laughing all night long.  This swinging, grooving, and grinding Comic-Book Rock-Musical is a must see this Halloween!

George and Gracie: The Early Years

George and Gracie: The Early Years

A nostalgic and hilarious look back at the early years of the famous husband and wife comedy team: George Burns and Gracie Allen.

After sending audiences into hysterical laughter in IT HAD TO BE YOU (Seven Angels Season ’08-09) R. Bruce Connelly (Say Goodnight Gracie) and Semina De Laurentis (the original Sr. Mary Amnesia – Nunsense) reunite on Seven Angels stage to bring to life the unique comedy of George Burns and Gracie Allen in this special theatrical event just for Seven Angels.

George and Gracie were one of the most successful comedy teams of all time. George, one of comedy’s best straight men who ever walked the earth, and Gracie, the ditzy lady with her own sense of logic delighted audiences for years on radio and TV. Countless such acts came before them and plenty after them, but few are as memorable as this pair.

Come join George and Gracie, their neighbors Blanche and Harry and other memorable guests as Bruce, Semina and cast pay homage to the comedic idols who influenced and inspired them with their impeccable comic timing and zaniness

The production of GEORGE AND GRACIE: THE EARLY YEARS is to benefit Seven Angels Theatre educational and the High School HALO Awards programs.
